EVENT REPORT - MELBOURNE 2018
The first edition of the Italian Innovation Days Australia in Melbourne saw eight innovative Italian startups and scaleups across four verticals pitch to integral stakeholders in Melbourne at The University of Melbourne on the 6th of June 2018.
The first edition event in Melbourne had 110 participants attend throughout the main event including investors, venture capitalists, angel investors, financial institutions, corporates, journalists, researchers, commercialisation, research and development specialists, SME’s interested in international partnerships and strategists with expertise across the science, tech, finance and business sectors. |

The event was followed by a networking session and meetings over the following days as investors, corporates and potential strategic and business partnerships met with the respective 8 Italian startups.
The eight startups had been curated based on the uniqueness and tangibility of their offerings, technological solutions and span across Medtech & Healthtech, Agtech & Foodtech, Fashiontech & Retailtech and Cybersecurity. The main innovative technological solutions offered by the startups included blockchain technology within the food supply chain, medical and agtech/livestock verticals, new biotech sustainable materials for the fashion, automotive and furniture sectors, immersive media technology including AR, VR, MR, projection mapping and holograms, robotics for applications within the medical fields, next generation technologies within the neuromodulation and neuromonitoring and cybersecurity solutions protecting IP and data leakage. The first edition of Italian Innovation Days Australia was co-hosted by Emil Abirascid and Adam Bregu, co-founders and co-organisers and Dr. Kate Cornick, CEO of LaunchVic, the Victorian state government startup development organisation.
A series of special guest speakers from both Italy and Australia offered guests insights into areas including innovation, commercialisation, technological developments, international scalability opportunities, international alliances and developments, generating momentum and the ecosystem across Italy and Australia. |
